My mate recently went to Australia with a friend. They rented out a car as they would be travelling across the whole country. Anyway they've been back for a month or so now and he's just received a speeding fine through the post. I have attached the letter to this post.
All seems a bit harsh for being 5 mph over.

My suggestion would be to ignore it. Nothing can happen - even by going back to Australia.
Don't acknowledge in any way.
I live in NZ which has much closer ties with Oz, and had a ticket a few years. Nothing been mentioned since, even when hiring a car from the same company.
Did the envelope perchance have something like on the back, "this must be returned within seven days if not delivered"?
