Full Version: Fine From Australia

My mate recently went to Australia with a friend. They rented out a car as they would be travelling across the whole country. Anyway they've been back for a month or so now and he's just received a speeding fine through the post. I have attached the letter to this post.

All seems a bit harsh for being 5 mph over.

No different to our 10% + 2 really. Interesting that the fines go up for a company - presumably no 'demerit' points.

My suggestion would be to ignore it. Nothing can happen - even by going back to Australia.

Don't acknowledge in any way.

I live in NZ which has much closer ties with Oz, and had a ticket a few years. Nothing been mentioned since, even when hiring a car from the same company.

Did the envelope perchance have something like on the back, "this must be returned within seven days if not delivered"?

Souvenir. Ones written in languages you can't read are even better!

So the best advice is to ignore it?
