Just recieved a £65 PCN from H&F council for performing an illegal 'U' turn on Gliddon Rd heading towards Hammersmith Rd. It seems that this is a notorious stretch for catching people performing illegal U turns when in fact I turned into Barons Keep and reversed out again (surely this is a 3 point turn, not a U turn!!!)

I have appealed it but the council have rejected it, my only option now is if I take my case to an adjudicator.

Has anyone else been caught on this road and has anyone taken their case to an adjudicator? What was the result??
I found details here (http://forums.pepipoo.com/lofiversion/index.php/t66933.html) but and it seems the outcome with several cases is mixed.

Seems like another money making scheme by the council!

Should I appeal further or is this just wasting my time.

Anyone know the legal definition of a U turn and anyone been successful appealing a similar case? If so can you provide the case ID/refe no?

Thanks
makara
Scan (or photograph) and post up ALL sides of the Ticket (and/or any other paperwork received)

- edit out your personal details and your car reg. and the Ticket number (from the SCANNED version ONLY - do NOT amend anything on the original hard-copy PCN or other original paperwork!) before uploading.

Thanks for your reply!

Why do you need this? I have uploaded the photos of the alleged offence - the letter from H&F is a standard response from them.

Many tickets are actually defective or unlawful, so having sight of it will allow the forums experts to determine of it presents any valid appeal points.

Council's ability to comply with the laws they are trying to enforce is generally as poor as their ability to maintain the roads to a minimum acceptable standardM

It seems to me that if one is going to be whalloped for £65 for a "U-turn", then a definition of what this is is essential to defininfg the offence. Most English people would understand it to be reversing direction 180 degrees in one turn, i.e. the car follows a 'U' shaped path in the road. Where is there a definition in the legislation ?

This is what one dictionary website defines: -

bama
there is this
http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1999/2864/made

Wilkinson's may have it chapter and verse of course

have seen adjudications where the Adj has 'found' that a three pointer was a U-turn. IIRC even some where a three pointer involving a side road was still a U-turn. So could do with nailing down for sure.

See this case where a panel of Adjudicators defined u-turn:
