NIP Wizard Responses
These were the responses used by the Wizard to arrive at its recommendation:
Have you received a NIP? - Yes
Are you the Registered Keeper of the vehicle concerned (is your name and address on the V5/V5C)? - Yes
Did the first NIP arrive within 14 days? - Yes
Although you are the Registered Keeper, were you also the keeper of the vehicle concerned (the person normally responsible for it) at the time of the alleged offence? - Yes
Were you driving? - Yes
Which country did the alleged offence take place in? - England

NIP Wizard Recommendation
Based on these responses the Wizard suggested that this course of action should be considered:
  • The law requires you to provide the information requested in the Section 172 notice within the 28 day period, naming yourself as the driver. If you are considering obtaining formal legal advice, do so before returning the notice.

You should note that there is nothing to be gained by responding any earlier than you have to at any stage of the process. You are likely to receive a Conditional Offer of a Fixed Penalty (COFP) and further reminder(s). If you want to continue the fight, you should ignore all correspondence from the police until you receive a summons. You need to understand from the outset that while you will receive much help and support from members on the forums, you will need to put time and effort into fighting your case and ultimately be prepared to stand up in court to defend yourself.

No advice to offer really, there do appear to be 40mph repeater signs on that road. Make sure you return the notice within the 28 days.

IIRC, Gillian Taylforth called it “abdominal relief”.. biggrin.gif

That Camera is only about 100 yards after the large terminal signs, to be honest you have to be very distracted to have missed them.

Always worth asking for photo's to 'help confirm the drivers ID' or similar (not 'proof' or 'evidence') just to check the ping is good.

There was a thread some time ago with the thought the the signs had been removed, anyone know if they were/are now?

I drove that section last week & cannot say I noticed they were missing, as I know it well I tend to drive that section with more caution than normal.

The signs have been back since some time before Christmas.

Hi All

Should I wirte a letter requesting photo to help idenify driver before the 28 days is up for leave the driver blank and asking for photo when close to 28 day limit

Is there any value in requesting camera type last calibration date or anything similar?

Also whats a ping?

Thanks

Asking for photo's does not exetend the 28 day limit, so not sure how you think asking close to 28 days will help (unless you mean help you get 6 points), by all means get the photo's and check them.

No Value in asking for cal certs, you won't get them and it may mean you won't get photo's either.

'Ping' = speed reading - the moments of, adapted from Rugby where 'getting pinged' is having the ref blow his whistle for an offence YOU commited.
