Hi All,
We got a parking ticket today from the Council for parking on a single yellow line. The ticket says the car was observed for 9 minutes, but there was no sign on that street that said the times that it was ok to park. Are there any grounds for appeal, or is it a waste of time and should we just pay the ticket?

Unfortunately my scanner is broken at the moment but the details are as follows:
Served on: 24/01/2011
XXXX Civil Enforcement Office had reasonable cause to believe that the following parking contravention had occured and that a penalty charge is now payable:
parked in a restricted street during prescribed hours.
Date of contravention: 24/01/2011
Time of contravention: 11:29:49
Location: XXXX
Observed from 11:20:24 to 11:29:49
A penalty charge of £70 is now payable and must be paid not later than the last day of the period of 28 days beginning with the date on which this PCN was served.
The penalty charge will be reduced by a discount of 50% to £35 if it is paid not later than the last day of the period of 14 days beginning with the date on which this PCN was served
On the pack of this PCN you will find information on:
- How to pay
- How to challenge the PCN
- What happens if the PCN is not paid
Hope this is of some help, I've removed some of the details of course

Were you parked in a Controlled Zone? The hours of operation are posted at the start of the zone and not on lines unless different.

Would need to see all the PCN to sift for defects. Obvious ?'s: where and which council.

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&sour...021136&z=16Its this Crown Street, A5048. Parked about where the bus stop markings are, but there is building work so the whole road layout has changed: there is no bus stop anymore. There are no signs on Crown St, only on different streets off this road, and we can't find where the controlled parking zone begins. So we dont know if it can be contested because we don't know the times you are allowed to park.

We need that PCN. Does the location state Crown Street? Just that? Did you know this was a CPZ? Did you pass any signs. Need up to date pictures.
