Provide a description of events (if you know what happened) telling us as much about the incident as possible - some things that may seem trivial to you may be important, so don't leave anything out. Please do not post personal details for obvious reasons - Was driving west to east along the Wallasey Dock Road. Saw a police officer holding something out towards the car, she was positioned west of the Limekiln Lane/Dock Road junction opposite the 2 red cars in the (hopefully) linked Google Map http://maps.google.co.uk/?ie=UTF8&ll=5...mp;t=h&z=19
NIP says I was doing 36 in a 30. I dont actually know as when I looked at the speedo it had crashed (intermittent fault, being looked into) but I was maintaining the speed of the traffic around me so I dont know if they have sent an NIP out to all the drivers.

NIP Wizard Responses
These were the responses used by the Wizard to arrive at its recommendation:
Have you received a NIP? - Yes
Are you the Registered Keeper of the vehicle concerned (is your name and address on the V5/V5C)? - No
Is the NIP addressed to you personally? - No

NIP Wizard Recommendation
Based on these responses the Wizard suggested that this course of action should be considered:
  • Do nothing!

The police are not requesting the information from you, they are requesting it from the person the NIP is addressed to.
Wait until you receive a NIP addressed to you personally, then come back here.

While the wizard has said do nothing my wife obviously does need to do something. Is she best just filling in the NIP with my details?

As the NIP Wizard says you do not need to do anything at present. The NIP is in your wife's name and it is she who should reply in the first instance - presumably naming you. As this case arises from the use of a handheld speedgun it is unlikely that there will be any photographs to inspect and so nothing to request.

Were you, ultimately, to name yourself on your own NIP then at the speed alleged (its well within the ACPO criteria for such courses - posted limit + 10% + 6mph) you are likely to be offered a speed awareness course (assuming that you have not attended one in the past three years). This will costs but, of course, has no points attached to it.

Your wife could also help you out by sending it back towards the end of the 28 days she has.
