working on the little info given and making the assumption it may have been you,but not at that date/ time ?

you should wait till 14 days have elapsed since the offence and write to them telling them so, you should include as much info as you have, about where the car was and times

if on the other hand it wasnt your car at all, id be getting down to the police station and reporting it as cloned
freddo
Thank you for that Jobo....will do that, presumably 14 days after the event they can't reissue an NIP for the same?
jobo
no they cant

but be aware that what is required on an nip is vague and wrong details would only invalidate it if they confused you ? and if they were to send an updated one it would just make the first one more wrong

but ,,, thats a side issue as you wont have named the driver they cant precessed with it any way, but they cant( shouldn't) be able proceed with the 172 charge as you have complided with the requirement in its fullest by giving
ALL info in your power to give, which is why you need to camp it up with regards to where the car was and for how long

Once the notice recipient has denied that it was the subject vehicle that was involved in the alleged offence, it is then for the prosecution to prove that it was (Neal v Fior, Jacob v Garland).
freddo
Thank you Jobo and Jeffreyarcher for your advice, I will wait the 14 days. Much appreciated.
