Full Version: Un-marked Police on the motorway - do they have to pull you over to issue you a speeding ticket?

Hi,

I was travelling on the M69 this evening, and speed up to over take in the outside lane, unfortunatly I am unsure how fast I was going but most likely above 70mph. I then saw a car coming up behind me, so I moved in to the inner lanes and slowed down to 70 but when the car passed I noticed that he was a policeman, in an unmarked car. Does he have pulled me over to issue me a speeding ticket or can he just log my speed and send me a notice at home? Obviously, I'm asking as he didn't pull me over. I also don't think he was following me for any great length of time.

Thank you for any advice.

He could send you a notice in the post but the chances are he wasn't bothered.
