Full Version: Zapped over 500m away
FightBack Forums > Queries > Technical Discussion of Enforcement Devices
Has anybody won a case against the scammers recently, when an LTI20/20 gathered a speed from a distance of more than 500m? - i.e. the whole prior opinion arguement.

I'm currently helping a friend who was zapped at 509m.

Ask to see the videographic evidence
Check to see if the drivers face is CLEARLY recognisable
It is well known that between 1000m and 250m this is an issue for the recording device

There are also several other technical reasons why evidence from the LTI 20-20 can be thrown out
The recorded images must be uninterrupted
The line of sight must be uninterrupted
Therefore if there is any road furniture which interrupts the view then the recording cannot be submitted into evidence

Tayside Police have been caught out with that one a few times now, when using the A9 southbound at Dunblane
This location results in the first image being captured OVER the central reservation
As a result vehicles travelling in the opposite direction pass in front of the captured images
