NIP Details and Circumstances
What is the name of the Constabulary? -
Date of the offence: - May 2009
Date of the NIP: - 8 days after the offence
Date you received the NIP: - 10 days after the offence
Location of offence (exact location as it appears on the NIP: important): - A249 Sittingbourne Road, Detling
Was the NIP addressed to you? - Yes
Was the NIP sent by first class post, second class or recorded delivery? - First
If your are not the Registered Keeper, what is your relationship to the vehicle? -
How many current points do you have? - 0
Provide a description of events (if you know what happened) telling us as much about the incident as possible - some things that may seem trivial to you may be important, so don't leave anything out. Please do not post personal details for obvious reasons - I am the registered keeper and wife also drives the vehicle. We cannot recall who was driving that day as it is the one night of the week we do not have anything regular on and would not normally be out, nor do we normally use that road. So we don't know who was driving let alone what speed was being driven.

What should we do?

NIP Wizard Responses

Although you are the Registered Keeper, were you also the keeper of the vehicle concerned (the person normally responsible for it) at the time of the alleged offence? - Yes
Were you driving? - Unsure
Do you know who was driving? - Unsure who was driving

NIP Wizard Recommendation
Based on these responses the Wizard suggested that this course of action should be considered:

I suggest to write to them, providing the Reg, NIP Ref and Name and request copies of any photo's to help identify the driver. Do not elaborate, or use the words evidence or proof. They do not have to provide them but usually do. This does not stop the 28 day clock for returning the NIP. Then you get the photo's wash off the ID and reg and post them in your thread using the instructions in the FAQ section and others will help you with the quality of the Ping and any possible errors.
