NIP Wizard Responses
These were the responses used by the Wizard to arrive at its recommendation:
Have you received a NIP? - Yes
Are you the Registered Keeper of the vehicle concerned (is your name and address on the V5/V5C)? - Yes
Did the first NIP arrive within 14 days? - No
Was there a valid reason for the NIP's late arrival? - No

NIP Wizard Recommendation
Based on these responses the Wizard suggested that this course of action should be considered:
  • The first NIP to the Registered Keeper must arrive within 14 days unless there is a valid reason why that was not possible, for example a recent change of details.

This link will take you to the advice provided by the RAC's legal team.

What confused you about the signs?

How long have you been the registered keeper of the vehicle in question? 45 days does sound like a reminder though.

What is the date on your V5C (the "docref" date on Page 2)?
walber-tone
on page 2 of the reprinted nip the only date i can see is 13/01/2009. i did notice on the forum a little while back that there had been an issue on the same stretch of road, and i guess i was hoping that possibly due to the speed limit quickly changing from 30-40-50 , that it might have been an argument with regard to sign spacin.

Southpaw was asking about your V5C (aka vehicle 'logbook'/registration document)
walber-tone
oh rolleyes.gif , the date on the v5 in section 5 on page 2 shows me as cquiring vehicle on 18/07/2008.

That's not the "docref" date at the bottom though, is it?
walber-tone
(That's not the "docref" date at the bottom though, is it?) at the bottom of the v5 in the grey section next to the doc ref the date is 29/07/08

Hmm... sounds like we may well have a "lost" NIP then. Go with the RAC letter but add on at the end (before the signature) the details of who was driving.
