I was stopped for appartently doing 42mph in a 30mph zone by 2 x bog standard police officers with a gun (not traffic police) after filling the fpn out they informed me i was getting a £60 fine and 3 points i dont have any points as yet but i am a private hire taxi driver with 5years no claims and pay £1100 a year insurance which will rise to £1400 with 3 points but i noticed that they got my registartion wrong by 1 digit i.e. TC***** instead of TF***** can i despute this or do i have to pay this.

That error of itself is no defence, if you decline the FPN and go to court, the fpn will have no more evidential value than any other piece of paper.

Why not give us some more details (nature of road, how far away did they get you, etc) to see if anything stands out.
