Hello everyone

I have received a parking ticket issued to me as the registered owner because my car was parked in a private road. When it was parked there was no sign above the bay, but when checking after receiving the notice I discovered there was a sign when turning into the road.

I appealed against the notice and requested evidence of who was driving and details of on whose behalf they were acting. They have refused my appeal but not addressed either of those points. They have advised me that if the ticket is not paid within 14 days the will pass the matter on to their debt collecting agency.

Do I have to pay or do they have to prove who the driver was?

Thanks.

Absolutely no need to pay it. Enter into no further correspondence.

If you ever get another of these fake tickets do not contact them at all, even to "appeal".
Alexis
You have a private ticket A.K.A. an unenforceable invoice.

There is no 'appeals procedure' and they will not entertain your letters - they just want your cash.

Do not pay.
Do not contact them.

You'll receive 5 or 6 threatening letters but they will go away in a few months. Ignore their threats of court action and CCJs - they will not take you to court because financial penalties are not catered for under law and they would lose. Instead they send threatening letters to get you to pay up - it's a scam and the DVLA are just as bad because they sell owner's addresses for £2.50 a time to line their coffers.

Simon,
welcome to the board.
it was a mistake contacting them but hey ho, you are not the only one to have contacted a PPC like this and then posted afterwards. to the best of my recollection no one has paid after taking advice - or lost money as a result so do not worry.
I bet you phoned their premium rate line as well sad.gif
You can draw the line there and save your hard earned.
Lots of posts here about this company

Do NOT pay them
Do NOT contact them
Do NOT worry.
Get on with your life

All you have is an unenforceable invoice. read the PPC FAQ
forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?autocom=ibwiki&cmd=article&id=56
and some of the many threads here about PPCs.

It is a Con. the PPCs know how their Con works and they know how it
fails
. So do we smile.gif

There is NO need to worry at all.
Just read the threads here and try and find a case where it is has ended
badly for one of our advised 'PPC victim' posters..
When you get fed up looking for one the reality of the situation and the
strength of your position will sink in.

Once you have your head around it tell ALL your friends about this Con and
how to handle it.

You will very likely get a series of letters full of misleading bluff and bow
locks. just keep them in the drawer. They are all just landfiill, let the PPC
waste its money sending them.

To make it go away do nothing and they will move onto other fish.
Contact them and you get on the hooked fish list and they will pester you.

If you want to do something about it (and this IS a fight back forum)
then send a photocopy of each and every piece of paper you get from them to
local Trading Standards along with a stiff letter of complaint.

If you want to do more wait for the first bow locks letter you get - they
will have spent 2.50 at the DVLA to get the Registered Keeper's details (smile.gif)
write to the DVLA and ask for a copy of the request made by the PPC and the
backup evidence of contract with the landowner (see forms V888/2 and v888/3
on the DVLA website). Then write to the landowner complaining about their
part in this pursuit of unenforceable scam 'debts'. And complain to the ICO.

How far you fight back is up to you but the more that do it the better IMV.

I use it and frequently find a freephone or geographic number

Thanks for your comments everyone.

On the subject of the 0870 numbers I have used the website mentioned and it works. Unfortunately some companies realise what is going on and disconnect the numbers listed. Always worth a look though!

I have my fingers crossed that UKPC Ltd will give up, and having looked at this forum it looks like they have no option!

BT no longer charge for 0870 & 0845 numbers when you use a "unlimited" package (as I do biggrin.gif ), according to that nice man on the telly adverts with oh so sexy (but exceedingly nauseating) girlfriend
