Provide a description of events
I have received 2 NIP's for speeding twice in 10 minutes. The speeds are 36 in a 30 and 39 in 30. The camera was manned.
I already have 3 points on my license for speeding approximately 1.5 yrs ago. So now run the risk of losing my license for one more offence. My car is hugely important for work
The situation:
It was my first day at a new job and in the area. I was unsure of directions. Station Road (the road of the offence) is signposted as an industrial site. Access to the road is via a right turn at a set of busy traffic lights, from a dual carriageway. At no point in time did I see signs for a 30mph limit and for the area in which my work place was I would not describe it as built up bar a couple of factories set quite well back from the road.
I have to take another right turn about 2 minutes drive down station road. However, I missed this turning and spotted it at the lasst minute and hence had to continue down station road to turn around. Apparrantly during this period I have been caught speeding twice, once after missing the turning and once after turning around and coming back.
I have a few problems with the alleged offence. Firstly I cannot understand how the offences are 10 minutes apart given I do not think I actually spent 10 minutes on this particular road! 2 minutes to the turning, 3 minutes past it to turn around, 3 minutes back to the tuning. Then I turn off the road. This gives 8 minutes max. Take out the time slowing down to turn around, this gives a very small time period in which I could have been doing the said speeds!
Secondly I am only guessing that this is where the offence occured as station road is quite a long road and the details on the NIp are not very specific and I would say my route is restricted to the first 3rd of it.
Finally once you make the turning off the dual carriage way on to station road there are no speed signs at all. I have since been to look at the whole of the road and it is as follows.
30mph sighn as you turn off the dual carriage way - however this can often be blocked due to the size of the lorries that come out of the estate onto the dual carriage way...so it is potentially difficult to see.
After this point to the point where I made my turnaround afetr going the wrong way there are no signs. So if I didn't see the one on entry there was nothing to give me warning after turning around anyway! The only additional signs are way past where I turn off station road and on a part that I do not travel at all
can anyone offer any advice on where I stand?
