If I hand-deliver my not guilty pleas to my local Magistrates Court, is it advisable to get some kind of 'receipt' as proof of delivery eg headed notepaper signed received with date on). I rang up to check their opening times and they said that they had never been asked for one before!

To answer the question - Yes

Get as many details added (eg case number) onto the 'receipt' - you never know when you might need it.
