Just trying to understand.
QUOTE (chat2kat @ Tue, 22 May 2018 - 19:38)
I sent the yellow V5 slip to DVLA
got that
QUOTE (chat2kat @ Tue, 22 May 2018 - 19:38)
but since then I have received 2 fines for not insuring the car I no longer owned ?
Two? How far apart? Have you mentioned any dates here yet?
QUOTE (chat2kat @ Tue, 22 May 2018 - 19:38)
I filled out all the details required on one of the forms they sent with proof of sale of car date dealer etc ,
Hang on; who sent? What forms?
QUOTE (chat2kat @ Tue, 22 May 2018 - 19:38)
but when they wrote back they had already escalated matters to their fines dept
But you knew that; you'd received the penalty notices.
QUOTE (chat2kat @ Tue, 22 May 2018 - 19:38)
so I wrote an appeal letter explaining i defiantly returned the slip and yet more proof of me no longer owning the vehicle .
Appeal letter? Isn't that the forms you mentioned above?
QUOTE (chat2kat @ Tue, 22 May 2018 - 19:38)
last week I received an acknowledgment slip say I was no longer the owner
So is that a response to you sending in the V5 slip originally or is it a response to something written since.
QUOTE (chat2kat @ Tue, 22 May 2018 - 19:38)
followed the next day by another notification of fine as they said enforcement had already started before they sent me this slip so the fine still stands
And that's correct, as the penalty notices explained and, as I read it, what the regulations say.
(I do wonder though how these things are dealt with in retrospect if a sale is notified by post and DVLA take their
usual 4 weeks ish to process and acknowledge ?)
We need to SEE docs to fully understand.
