Full Version: PCN with no contravention code
FightBack Forums > Queries > Council Tickets & Clamping and Decriminalised Notices
I was served a penalty recently which has no contravention code on it. Does that render the PCN invalid?
Many thanks!

Please upload the PCN blanking out the reg number and address.

OP, if this relates to your suspension case--keep everything in the same thread or it becomes confusing.

There is no legal requirement to put a code or code number on a PCN.

I think a strong argument can be made that in London there is a legal requirement.

The Act states that London local authorities must set the penalties applicable;
The regs state that this power is exercisable only by the joint body, in this case London Councils;
LC's published penalties states in section 5 on page 8 that a code is 'essential information', only suffixes are optional.
Thanks Mick and HCAndersen . I will add what you just said to my appeal.
