Hi I am writing on behalf of the person who received a Parking charge notice, its the first time anyone in the family has ever received one and unsure what to do next.
It says she has 14 days to pay £40 or it becomes £70.

The person who received the PCN was just told to ignore it, but after reading up on things today it seems that is bad advice.

The person parked at North shields Asda, she is a full time career and was needing a few items to take to work. She looked around the store but didn't find the item she was after,
she left the store popped to the bank across the street and made a purchase in another shop to get the items she needed, that Asda didn't have.
It seems she took 25 mins too long as it was one hour free parking. She noticed the first sign that said 1 hour free but didn't notice the second sign that had the terms on it.

The letter she has received shows her car parked and leaving 25 mins over the time allowed, she didn't realise that she had spent so long in Asda browsing or the bank
and other shop.

so what should she do and how do we go about it, I am not very good at this sort of thing and a lot of advice online seems to be a little out of date after a court case in nov last year?

So any advice and help would be very welcome.

we went back to asda this morning and took pictures of the signs. I will post pictures soon as I work out how to of the signs and the letter.

thank you very much

Same advice as here and on all other Smart Parking threads, she has 28 days so the registered keeper needs to appeal it. FORGET the 14 days bribe, she'll pay nothing at all I can tell you:

The registered keeper (NOT saying who parked) appeals and then wins at POPLA as explained in this detailed thread of advice I keep up to date on MSE forum. This has a simple first appeal (blue writing) designed to get a POPLA code out of them. The same advice thread, in post #3, also shows you second stage POPLA appeal, always won:

What happened when you/she compained to the Store Manager then? That is the quickest way to quash this rubbish but DO NOT mention going out of the site across the street. Just show any Asda receipts or bank statements when complaining to Asda. Or email Andy Clarke the CEO of Asda, like this person and loads of others have done:
