Was the NIP addressed to you? - No
Was the NIP sent by first class post, second class or recorded delivery? - First
If your are not the Registered Keeper, what is your relationship to the vehicle? - My partners vehicle
How many current points do you have? - 0
Provide a description of events (if you know what happened) telling us as much about the incident as possible - some things that may seem trivial to you may be important, so don't leave anything out. Please do not post personal details for obvious reasons - I had just entered a piece of dual carriageway, the first 200m of which has a 50mph limit. I moved out to pass 2 cars and I saw the camera van some 400m away. I moved back into the inside lane behind the 2 cars and passed the van at 50 mph.
I have been clocked at 61mph which is a surprise as I had only just moved to overtake and this would have been my maximum speed. Also surprised at the distance that the reading was taken from, it had to be a full 400m or so.

The car is registered to my partner at our home address, I am insured for the vehicle so there are no other issues to worry about.

What should my course of action be?

NIP Wizard Responses
These were the responses used by the Wizard to arrive at its recommendation:
Have you received a NIP? - Yes
Are you the Registered Keeper of the vehicle concerned (is your name and address on the V5/V5C)? - No
Is the NIP addressed to you personally? - No

NIP Wizard Recommendation
Based on these responses the Wizard suggested that this course of action should be considered:
  • Do nothing!

The police are not requesting the information from you, they are requesting it from the person the NIP is addressed to.
Wait until you receive a NIP addressed to you personally, then come back here.

Presuming that the NIP is addressed to yuor partner, they should fill it in naming you.

They can get you up to 900m.

Do a forum search on "unsigned".
The Rookie
It takes 1/3 of a second to get a reading and the most common device can get you at up to 999m, 400m is a routine range for them, I'm not surprised at all.
