Sorry - not much idea, really. Says I was doing 60mph in a 50mph limit and says 'manual detection'.

Yes, I don't doubt I was doing that speed. Don't think I can be bothered with a speed awareness course, think i'd rather pay the fine and take the points. No loopholes to get out of the fine/points (other than silly course thing), I assume?

Take the course you might just learn something and even if you don't you avoid the points.

You can ask for photo's to help you identify the driver (as a ploy to check the 'evidence') but as you accept the speed then there's nothing you can realistically do. They are likely to offer you the course anyway but you can choose to have the points instead. The points may not affect your insurance premium but it's worth checking - especially whether your insurer wants to be notified immediately or at renewal. The course will probably be around £80-£90 instead of the £60 fixed penalty.

Know this one well, got me at the exact same speed (60 in 50) a few years ago.

Things might've changed since then but A&S weren't offering courses for 50mph limits. I even asked to be considered for one in a covering letter.

A&S are now part of the national scheme, and a lot has changed from a few years ago. Then courses were regarded as experimental and a bit of a concession, now they are very much mainstream.
