any help concerning the this would be greatly appreciated - I am going to go down the PACE statement route so here are the details:
1. offence was in england 2. constabulary is metropolitan police 3. date of offence 13 may 2005 4. date of NIP 19 may 2005 5. recieved NIP 1 week later 6. the NIP was adressed to me 7. NIP was sent 1st OR 2nd class - I don't have the envelope my 5 year old had it!!!!! 8. I'm the registered keeper 9. I have uk licence 10. I have 6 points 11. I was coming to the end of the M4 heading into london and was flashed from behind by a gatso fixed camera. NIP says I was on the A4 so motorway must have stopped. I thought the limit was 50mph. NIP says I was doing 51mph in 40mph limit. Do I send the PACE statement to the chief constable or the traffic criminal justice OCU address on the NIP? Would there be any worth in sending it to the chief constable of the metropolitan police?? Thanks in advance and keep up the good work - heres to a long and rocky journey........ p.s. I would like to become a paid-up member if someone could advise who/where to send cheque as I don't have paypal. offline if necessay. |

I sent mine to the Criminal Justice OCU address on the NIP. In response I received a COFP, which I ignored and have heard nothing further. The speeding has timed out and in a couple of weeks so will the unlikely, but theoretically possible, S172. I don't know if the Met understand PACE or are too busy to try and fight it. I believe there are a number of people here who have achieved time outs using the PACE route in response to NIP's from the Met. |

The Mett is one of the few Forces to understand PACE and its implications. You may find that they have decided that they do not want to get involved in the forthcoming civil litigation for damages. ![]() -------------------- Regards, Mika
