A couple of months ago I received an NIP in the post. The offence was apparently doing 38 in a 30 zone on a motorcycle. I couldn’t remember who was riding it that day, my brother sometimes borrows my bike, and so I asked for a photo. When they sent it it was a front facing shot with no number plate to be seen. When I queried how they knew it was my bike they wrote saying “ vehicle registration was obtained by camera operator at the time of the alleged offence”.
I assume they are saying that the operator put down the camera, picked up his notebook and wrote down the number as I passed him. The question is do they have to have the number plate on the photograph to proceed or can they say that the operator scribbled it down after operating the camera? |

A note in his book is enough after all 'you' did recieve the NIP. You need to resolve this issue rapidly as you are in the zone for a 'Failure to Furnish' which now carried 6 points and a fine of £300 plus. Pete D

Ask the police farce concerned if they have ever done speed camera accuracy checks with motorbikes. If they haven't which I suspect they won't have done, then how do they know it is an accurate reading?.Or use solicitor Michael Shrimptons defence. What act of parliament allows the camera to be used.

As others may have already suggested complete the NIP Wizard, and possibly upload the photograph. A head on Cycle is a small target and there may be some anomalies that others here may spot. How long ago did you get the CTO response to your last question?

So I go to FAQ, go to My controls, go to Options and am met with various choices none of which is "Manage your attachments". Don't you think it might be helpful to members if people just answered their questions instead of sending them all over the site for no useful purpose?

Fredd may have been referring to this post cunningly disguised by the title “How to post photographs/images” and hidden in the “READ THIS FIRST - frequently asked questions” “The basics you need to know before posting on the forums”.

Fredd may have been referring to this post cunningly disguised by the title “How to post photographs/images” and hidden in the “READ THIS FIRST - frequently asked questions” “The basics you need to know before posting on the forums”. This is exactly the sort of silly nonsense I am referring to. If Fredd had posted Go to FAQ’s and on the left hand side under ‘How to post pho’ you will find something that will help you’ instead of ‘Go to FAQ’s’, that would have been helpful. His reply wasn’t. People come on this site because they need help and to be met with replies that seem to be designed solely to demonstrate how clever the posters are isn’t helpful. You must remember that most of us haven’t the time or the inclination to spend all our lives sitting in front of a computer trying to find their way around various websites. Pepipoo should be applauded for trying to help those that need it, however I feel that unless you stop trying to impress everyone with how clever you are you will fail in your ultimate objective. |

Oh dear! We realise this is a stressful time for you and that not everything in life is laid out for a persons particular convenience. No one is trying to make life difficult for anyone, more so when they are in a stressful situation.
But it is a fact of a web masters life that if pictures were just SO easy to upload the some "well meaning person" would arrange the automatic daily upload of 20GB of image data, just to bring the site to its knees. So picture upload is a fraught area but if you are serious about using the site to gain advice then I have one piece of advice. DON'T PANIC! Stay calm, forego a trip to the pub/club/football etc and have a quick study of how to interact with this group. Others have done it and achieved useful results, so the PePiPoo users invite you to attempt the same. The main thing is that you have to scan the picture in a suitable file/image size, we don't need to see the quality of the paper - just the image or words. When you have such a scan, you must put it onto a website that will host pictures for free which is not this site (unless you join). There are various options and the instructions suggest one that is well tried. There are others - I use my home web server when I need to do this. Maybe you have friends who post up images - they could help. However, advice can only be given after the images or other evidence are viewable. Replying to your comments about how useless and smart we are will only take from the time available to address the matters at issue. So what do you want from the board users - advice about your alleged speeding charge or advice about using a computer? I am sure you see the point. So breath deeply, get a six pack of beer, maybe get some assistance and have a go at uploading. We are more than willing to help but not to be berated for your lack of ability. It’s not a question of berating anybody. The point I was making was that if my query had been answered by telling me where on the FAQ’s the solution to my problem lies, instead of just saying ‘Check FAQ’s’, that would have been of help.
As for not panicking I can assure you I have never panicked in my life, and I have survived bombings, shootings, hurricanes, fires and earthquakes, I also do not frequent pubs, clubs or football, and since I have a decanter of Port at my elbow do not need a ‘six-pack’. I belong to many boards and I have never met with such unhelpful comments as I have on this site. You must understand that not everyone is an expert on your particular site and obviously will need assistance when they find themselves in trouble. The method used to upload pictures on this site is very different from what I had been previously used to. The site I use most of all simply pulls the image straight from my computer, with a size restriction of course, quick, simple and very easy to master in just a couple of minutes. Like I say Pepipoo is to be commended for setting up such a site, but please remember not everyone spends every waking moment traversing it. As for my ability or lack of it, well I have a Masters degree and am the author of several best selling books so I must have some ability in something! PS I can strip down and reassemble every weapon ever issued to the British Forces and a great majority of those issued to foreign forces. Can you? You see we all have abilities not necessarily in the same fields! |

Basic 'netiquette' includes reading the FAQ before posting questions (which are likely to have been asked and answered before).

What is your problem 'oystermouth1' Fredd sent you to the FAQ's so you go there and it states' READ THIS FIRST' so you click on that and the second item down is 'How to post photographs/images. Was that to difficult or what. You were also adviced to complete the Nip Wizard so what's wrong with that then.
I suggest you stick to your query and we continue to assist you. Pete D |

Oystermouth,
A friendly few words of advice: It really is not a good idea to get embroilled in flaming the very people who are likely to help you most on this forum -------------------- If it's brown, got feathers, webbed feet, wings, a beak, waddles and goes quack-quack and looks like a duck:
It's probably a duck... If it seems like an extortion racket, is operated like an extrortion racket, is run by an organised gang just like an extortion racket (the police are the biggest 'gang' in the country), if it is just like reasoning with any Mafiosa racketeer where any victim's observations are cast aside in the ultimate quest for ¢a$h, then it probably is an extortion racket. Or as I like to call it State Sponsored Theft Remember you have a vote at the next local and general elections: Tell your currently elected representatives how you feel. Make sure you go and vote !!! |

You need to resolve the issue ASAP as if you continue with the progress you have presently made you will recieve a summons for 'Failing to Furnish' resulting in 6 points and a large fine. Read the thread title on here where he was fined £900 and 6 points. You clearly need asistance. Pete D
