Hi all,
Can anyone tell me if unsigned NIPs are still the way to go in Scotland or is there a better approach ?. My motorcycle was scammed doing 43 in a 30 by a fixed rearward facing camera in Glasgow & I recieved the NIP 7 days later........advice appreciated |

Photo`d by fixed scam in Glasgow on bike (43 in 30) can you tell me if unsigned NIP is way to go, and what is procedure after that ? is it worth asking for copy of pic ?..............any help greatly appreciated |

NIP Details and Circumstances What is the name of the Constabulary? - Strathclyde Date of the offence: - May 2007 Date of the NIP: - 6 days after the offence Date you received the NIP: - 7 days after the offence Location of offence (exact location as it appears on the NIP: important): - Springburn Rd, Glasgow near to Huntershill Street Was the NIP addressed to you? - Yes Was the NIP sent by first class post, second class or recorded delivery? - First If your are not the Registered Keeper, what is your relationship to the vehicle? - How many current points do you have? - 3 Provide a description of events (if you know what happened) telling us as much about the incident as possible - some things that may seem trivial to you may be important, so don't leave anything out. Please do not post personal details for obvious reasons - A motorcycle owned by myself was photographed by a fixed camera (from behind) at an alleged speed of 43mph in a 30 limit. wait for the 26th day return filled in by someone else .i.e partner unsigned recorded delivery (remember and keep the slip to prove you sent it) then wait it out and hopefully you will join the many people that have timed out

Should I use Special delivery or recorded delivery ?

If you send recorded delivery you need to send earlier in case of failure. I understand if the plod comes round it's best for them not to find you at home. Thanks for your post Jeffrey, so if the driver info has already been supplied on the returned nip & plod are only requiring a signature, how would you deal with them ?, assuming they arrive whilst you are in the garden etc. Am I right to assume that they can`t harass you at work ?.

Having ignored the first NIP (6 weeks since 1st notification) I have now received another form asking me to name the rider of the motorcycle.
Do I a). Return the form unsigned (filled in by wife). b). Ask for a copy of photo to help in recognition of rider. c). Write back saying that I never received the NIP in the 1st place, there is no proof that I received it as it was sent 1st class post. I would be grateful of some sound advice now...........thanks Sid |
