NIP Details and Circumstances
What is the name of the Constabulary? - GRAMPIAN
Date of the offence: - October 2006
Date of the NIP: - 6 days after the offence
Date you received the NIP: - 7 days after the offence
Location of offence (exact location as it appears on the NIP: important): - A90 Abdn/Dundee Rd @ A937 Laurencekirk/Marykirk jc, Stonehav
Was the NIP addressed to you? - Yes
Was the NIP sent by first class post, second class or recorded delivery? - First
How many current points do you have? - 0
Provide a description of events (if you know what happened) telling us as much about the incident as possible - some things that may seem trivial to you may be important, so don't leave anything out. Please do not post personal details for obvious reasons - Was in fast lane just coming up along side a bus. Had been too busy talking and never noticed signs for 50 limit. Was travelling at 68.

NIP Wizard Responses
These were the responses used by the Wizard to arrive at its recommendation:
Have you received a NIP? - Yes
Which country did the alleged offence take place in? - Scotland
Did the first NIP arrive within 14 days? - Yes
Are you the Registered Keeper of the vehicle concerned (is your name and address on the V5/V5C)? - Yes
Were you driving? - Yes

NIP Wizard Recommendation
Based on these responses the Wizard suggested that this course of action should be considered:
  • Complete the form, but return it unsigned.

Generated by the PePiPoo NIP Wizard v1.0.2: Fri, 01 Dec 2006 09:52:15 +0000

Going to post it back unsigned and see how I get on. It's been bothering and worrying me for a few weeks in that I did not know what to do. Hope I have not left it too late in sending back. I'm posting it today special delivery.
Can't afford points and fine.

Any advise appreciated.

Unsigned is your only option but you had 28 days from receipt of the NIP to do this. They may have raised a Failure to Furnish prosecution as well. If you are going to send it do it by special delivery and get the signature so you can prove you sent it. Regards Peter

Hmmm... Laurencekirk again.

Opel, there are a few cases ongoing with Grampian on these boards with this exact location. Click on the links below for a case history of each:

Case 1.
Case 2.
Case 3..

Also, have you clicked on point 2 of my signature yet?

Hi again.
Ive just received a letter asking me to complete Part 1 of the NIP in order that a Conditional Offer of fixed penalty can be sent. It states that the form must be signed and they have indicated this on the form with an asterisk. The letter is dated the 5th december and I only received this yesterday the 13th.

What should I do now?

It's entirely up to you. If you want to keep fighting then do nowt. If, however, you want an easy life then accept their "generous" offer. blink.gif

You may have noticed that the three cases I linked to have all timed-out without (I assume) any prosecutions. closedeyes.gif
