Hi all, it's unfortunate to introduce myself to you all under these circumstances.
I have received a SJPN on 27/06/20 from when I got pulled over back in 07/04/20. I had been recorded with a speedgun at 67mph in a 40mph, the A41 Southbound Brent Cross Flyover, London to be exact. The alleged speed was caught from 189.9m away from where the officer activated the device. A Speed Pro LASER 4 was used on me, which they say has been calibrated until 5/2/2021 and the officer in question is trained and authorised to use as it is Police and NPCC approved. My charge sheet is as follows: ''RR84211 - Exceed 40mph speed limit in contravention of a Local Traffic Order - manned equipment On 07/04/2020 at London drove a motor vehicle, on a road, namely A41 Southbound Brent Cross Flyover, subject of a local traffic order, namely the A41 Trunk Road (Speed Limit) Order 1990, at a speed exceeding 40 miles per hour. Contrary to the above local traffic order and sections 84 and 89(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988. This Offence carries Penalty Points Date: 23/06/2020" I would like to point out that I made no comment when stopped by the officers and was compliant etc. In the statement, the officer stated that there were passengers in the car but it was just me. At the time of the contravention, I have lost my partner, job and nothing in life was going my way. I was en route to my grandparents to drop off some supplies as they are vulnerable to the pandemic. My family heavily relies on me for daily errands ranging from hospital appointments to shopping. The A41 Southbound Brent Cross Flyover has a speed camera in which I have passed at the legal limit. The vehicle in question is a 1.2 litre 60bhp which takes a considerable amount of time to reach the speed I have been recorded at not to mention the downhill section of the flyover where I was recorded also plays a factor. This is my first speeding offence in almost 4 years and I've got 2 years no claims. Surely that can be a factor I can mitigate? Thank you to all in advance for your guidance/advice/assistance! Unless you have a defence which you haven't mentioned, pleading guilty is going to be the cheapest option. This will be a band C fine (starting point is %150 of relevant weekly income but discounted by 1/3 for a guilty plea) and most likely 6 points. A short ban is a possibility but points is more likely. So unless you already have 6 points or more, it's unlikely you will be losing your licence.

In terms of the fine I'm not really fussed as I'm on universal credit at the moment due to losing my job. The 6 points however, I can't imagine how my insurance premiums are going to go sky high. I'm 23 and finally got around to paying £60 a month from £100+. From experience do you think the insurance premium will increase significantly? I will plead guilty, I'm just trying to use my current life issues and technicalities on the road to perhaps reduce it to 3 points. |

In terms of the fine I'm not really fussed as I'm on universal credit at the moment due to losing my job. Even with 'zero' income they use a figure of £130/week. From experience do you think the insurance premium will increase significantly? Yes - some may refuse cover. Check when they need to be notified. -------------------- RK=Registered Keeper, OP=Original Poster (You!), CoFP=Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty, NtK=Notice to Keeper, NtD=Notice to Driver
