I have received a Fixed Penalty Notice in relation to speeding.

On the 07/06/20 I was pulled over by a marked police car for speeding. Today, 29/06/20, I have received a Fixed Penalty Notice dated the 25/06/20. I am unsure if this was to be presented within 14 days.

The FPN does not state a speed.

My question is this:

I was pulled over for speeding, which I admit. The FPN doesn't state the speed, but being offered a FPN of £100 and 3 Points is far less than I was expecting. I was, at the time, expecting a Band B offence. When the documents didn't arrive within 14 days, I was sure a summons was on the way.

Am I best taking the FPN on the chin and learning from my mistakes, or is the FPN late and therefore should I consider another course of action.

What's the general feel on here.

For what it is worth, this is my first speeding offence in 15 years. My licence has been spotless up until this point, where a moment of lax concentration saw me speeding. The offence was on a Sunday morning, around 10am. Weather was clear and nice, roads were empty. I was "clocked" doing 49 in a 30 downhill on a double-lane road by a parked police car who then followed and caught up within seconds. As soon as I saw him, I realised I was speeding and knew he would pull me. He only needed to flash his blues.

I appreciate your advice.

Nope, it doesn't. (The 14 days only applies to postal NIP's)

It doesn't have to.

Pay it - you don't appear to have any viable defence from what you've told us so far.

You would get a band B fine in court and 5 or 6 points, but the police issue fixed penalties up to 50mph in 30mph limit, so you have avoided court by the skin of your teeth. As Jlc says, just pay it, nothing you have said gives you a defence or indeed mitigation.

Importantly, do not forget to enclose your licence as many do, or you will be going to court.

+1

As you will be looking at a Band B sentencing...

Just to clarify, you got it right in the title, it’s a conditional offer of a fixed penalty, it is not a fixed penalty notice, while you may think they are the same, they are not but are in fact different legal entities.
