Hi,
I received PCN for driving into red route (bus/lorry lane) at Farthing way Coulsdon . First of all it is confusing red route . Red coloured road ends but thick white line continues and then later on shows arrows to allow to cross into that lane. I must have crossed into red route after red coloured road ends. Is this grounds for appeal? Secondly the camera is way far away - after the signal and box junction and at least at 50 feet height and bridge obstructs its views. It won't be able to see vehicles if they start in red route before red colour road ends and one of my photos is just below the bridge edge. See attached photos - only first image shows registration number and that is when vehicle is at the box junction near after signal. Other two photos doesn't show registration number because of quality of photos. I have asked for video and they said they sent it 7 days back. But I am yet to receive it. I talked to customer service today and he saw the photo and he said I moved into red route and was there for 10 seconds. He said I have no grounds for appeal and if I appeal they may recover court fees etc. Is there any chance of fighting this. Why not extend red colour road till where red route ends? It causes so much confusion. https://ibb.co/kJD8Rgt https://ibb.co/F6vHG7T https://ibb.co/Vg02ZWJ This post has been edited by sammyp: Fri, 14 Feb 2020 - 20:06 |

It's a bus lane that happens to be on a red route although this lane admits goods vehicles too as well as taxis and bikes. But apart from that it is just a bus lane so I'm not sure what you found confusing?
I see now what you are saying - that the roadway changes at this point: https://www.google.com/maps/@51.3216573,-0....3312!8i6656 here's the start: https://www.google.com/maps/@51.3200746,-0....3312!8i6656 But the broad white line designates the lane. Post the PCN for a check. Put pics on https://imgbb.com or such like as space on forum is limited. This post has been edited by stamfordman: Fri, 14 Feb 2020 - 20:03 |

One more such thread http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=128673 Freedom of information about PCNs - apparently 3000+ PCNs issued in first month of enforcement of this bus lane. https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/transparency/f...d=FOI-1441-1920 It is not northbound not southbound as mentioned in FoI. We need to see the video, but from the photos there is a reasonable argument for de minimis

We need to see the video, but from the photos there is a reasonable argument for de minimis That camera is a long way past the underpass, making the PCN image very foreshortened - the OP's car looks to be about level with the second lamppost back, which is right the other side of the underpass. As you say the video is really needed to see. -------------------- Regards,

For TFL penalties you need to phone and ask for the video, you'll be sent a DVD in the post and the penalty will be put on hold while you wait.
