Had a notice of rejection of challenge from council.
My question is.. is there any point in taking it to appeal?

My argument was:

Parked on single yellow line because
1. there were cars parked the whole length of the road (with no tickets)
2. the signs I could see clearly stated 2 hours parking allowed

Came out of cafe to PCN on windscreen.
Looked at the other cars. No tickets. ??
No blue badges, no-one loading.

I found a little yellow sign high on a telegraph pole, slightly faded and twisted. The signs I had originally read were for the other side of the road.

I know yellow lines are restricted
I know number 1 above means nothing, but because I read the signs and saw all the cars parked there, it seemed obvious that it was OK to park there for 2 hours (particularly if one is a bit divvy for various reasons). In my defense, it was also pouring with rain.

So, the only possible legal argument could be the positioning of the sign (one would have to be standing in the road to read it) and the size of the lettering - for busy roads the TRGDS state bigger lettering should be used).

What say you? Pointless and pay the smaller amount of £45?

Can attach pics if its not a clear cut "don't be silly".

Many thanks

We can't help unless you post council pics, google street view and PCN.

Put pics on https://imgbb.com or such like.

We don't see many from Northern Ireland. I would say there doesn't seem to be much hope here as despite the twisted sign there is another and the yellow line looks in good condition. What is time on PCN?

The weird thing about it was the fact that the whole street was lined with cars. No others had tickets on them when we came out (and they were there when we went in). Maybe the parking attendant doesn't like tourists from southern Ireland.. I thought the tension between the two sides had ended.

I intend to ask the question thru FOI - numbers of tickets issued to NI residents. Hmm.

Was there again the other day - exactly the same, cars the length of the street on the restricted side.

Anyway, thanks very very much for your response Stamfordman. smile.gif

No such place. There is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Eire, The Republic of Ireland, a sovereign state of the UN it its own right!

You may as well be from Estonia unless there are specific bi-lateral agreements between the UK and the Republic.
