Hi everyone,

When I was travelling on a motorway (couple of months ago) there was a reduced speed limit (50mph) while I was travelling at 60mph. I saw a couple of camera flashes behind me and thought I was getting a speeding ticket in the post. However, I have received nothing so far (the address on the v5c is up to date). I am wondering if there is a way to find out whether I have a speeding ticket or not. I am worried that the letter might have been lost in the post and I may find myself in the court. Your help/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Phone the police force in question where the camera is located and ask for the safety camera team, they can check their database.

Enforcement of a 50 limit starts at 57mph, so a speedo reading of 60 could be just on that 57, actual reading 58/59 would likely put you under (no guarantee).

As this isn't an actual case it will probably be moved to the flame pit.

Thank you for your reply. So, you reckon the flashes don’t mean that I have been clocked speeding then? Thanks

The cameras reset once a day, when they reboot as part of the start-up procedure they test the flash. It might have been that you just happened to drive past as the camera was restarting.
