Did the NIP Wizard
NIP arrived fast, surprisingly fast in fact. 2 working days later I got it in the post. I am the RK and was driving at the time of the offence. Was caught speeding here: https://www.google.com/maps/@54.3808323,-2....3312!8i6656 The area was clear, no peds about not much traffic about. Drove up from London to the Lakes, for about 5 hours. Been driving 70mph most of the trip. Suddenly dropped from highway speed to 40mph, I remember the incident actually, I was feathering the brakes as I was going through it and knew I messed up. The speedo was reading high 40s as I was going past the camera. when you're doing 70mph all day long dropping down to 40 feels so slow. Is there any out from this? Any issues on the NIP? I am eligible for a speed awareness course as it has been over 3 years since last course. I have 3 points for speeding right now and need to drive for a living. Sounds like a course is the best outcome, there's no reason I can see why they wouldn't offer it.

If you had completed the NIP wizard (as asked to in the 'read this first before posting' sticky) we would also have the dates you have thoughtfully (?) redacted thus preventing us seeing if the nip is valid. Your call.

I've redacted the date & time because just like the name, address, penalty number, it can be used by police to trace the person.
For the sake of this, dates can be +/- 1 day from what I've posted below Date letter was printed: 29/07/2019 Date letter was received: 30/07/2019. WOW Date of infraction: 25/7/2019 As I have said the timing is all above board and I have done the NIP, was wondering whether there was some technicality in the wording of the 172 notice that allows me to challege it like is the case with a lot of PCNs. |

...was wondering whether there was some technicality in the wording of the 172 notice that allows me to challege it like is the case with a lot of PCNs. Nope. It's not like a PCN though -------------------- RK=Registered Keeper, OP=Original Poster (You!), CoFP=Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty, NtK=Notice to Keeper, NtD=Notice to Driver
PoFA=Protection of Freedoms Act, SAC=Safety Awareness Course, NIP=Notice of Intended Prosecution, ADR=Alternative Dispute Resolution PPC=Private Parking Company, LBCCC=Letter Before County Court Claim, PII=Personally Identifiable Information, SAR=Subject Access Request Private Parking - remember, they just want your money and will say almost anything to get it. |

That site is in the country and nowhere near a motorway or highway 70mph speed limit. The cameras are far enough away from a 40mph speed limit boundary to stop from more than 140mph. If you tell this ..."when you're doing 70mph all day long dropping down to 40 feels so slow"...to the magistrates see how you get on. A course would seem to be the best option for you. |

I've redacted the date & time because just like the name, address, penalty number, it can be used by police to trace the person. If you'd tried the NIP Wizard, or even looked at the output in other people's threads, you'd know that it doesn't display dates, times or any of the other personal details you're bothered about. It's almost as if we'd thought about that... -------------------- Regards,

Providing you're not planing on committing a more serious offence such as PCOJ or perjury, I struggle to see what difference it could make. -------------------- If you would like assistance with a penalty charge notice, please post a thread on https://www.ftla.uk/index.php

I go through Ings quite regularly. It's a long way past the 40mph terminal sign following a NSL/60mph single carriageway. I went through there not too long before you did and the signs were clear and unrestricted. Most people slam on their brakes and go through there at 25/30mph. The cameras are ridiculously easy to see. No, no way around this one.

Coming from Kendal direction a fairly short NSL Dual carriageway ends before a petrol station on the right and the 40mph speed limit, with clear and uninhibited terminal signs is a further 1/2 a mile give or take in the direction of Windermere. Signage wasn't an issue when I went past ten days ago or a month ago. Bang to rights, I'm afraid - the terminal sign is a fair bit before the location you've linked which is right by Ings Petrol Station. Good pub for food with its own brewery by there, if you are up that way again, OP. Also your link is in the opposite direction to the direction of travel stated in the OP. Towards Kendal is a 50mph limit from Windermere, and there is a 50mph repeater not far before the 40mph terminal sign. I thought you were questioning my assertion that they are ridiculously easy to see. If you didn't see them then you'd need a visit to specsavers... -------------------- I reserve the right to be wrong.
