Hello all,
My girlfriend received a Notice of Intended Prosecution letter this weekend dated 8th June. It was covering an alleged speeding offence in the early hours 6th May 2018, which means it took far longer than the usual 14 day period to arrive. She emailed the SCP and they advised that the DVLA had the car's previous address recorded, though the V5 has the correct address on it. According to their response, it is only the first Notice that is required to be served within 14 days of the offence, despite the information being held at the DVLA being incorrect. Can the good people of this forum confirm if the above is sufficient to get round the usual 14 day rule? Many thanks, Tim |

The SCP answer was correct. I assume that the car has been recently purchased.

They are right. Have the DVLA got it wrong, or is there a simpler explanation?
Has she acquired the car recently? At the bottom of page 2 of the V5C the is a DOCREf with a date: that is when the DVLA database would have been updated. |

Looks like the DVLA have got it wrong as the address on the V5 is her current address. |
