I've received a NIP for doing 94 on a stretch of motorway at 20:45 on the 2nd of Feb. There are several small problems with the NIP:
it's against a registration number that isn't mine (format n lll) - I've never had a personalised plate much less one that special. I wasn't in that area on 2 Feb, not even close. I live probably 100 miles away and would have been with my partner fixing dinner. The NIP says it's for a BMW; when I check the reg online for tax, MOT and insurance it's against a Sept 2017 reg Ferrari - never had one and probably never will. Any ideas how this cock-up happened? I'll obviously reply that it's all wrong but curious how this can happen. |

It’s hard to say how it’s hapoened, but your obvious reply is that you have no knowledge of the car mentioned, nor were you in the area concerned.
Your legal responsibility if you are not the keeper is to give information in your power to give, the above would seem like about all you can tell them. -------------------- There is no such thing as a law abiding motorist, just those who have been scammed and those yet to be scammed!

Oh well, from his post on another forum, despite asking for advice it appears he knows best.......

Now now, play nice. No need for sarcasm. The case is closed - last line of the email (sent by a named PC with badge number) states “I apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you and I can confirm this offence has now been taken out of your name.”.

Yep, they do see common sense most time, but it was risk.
