Hi All,
My OH and I have just returned from our holidays to find a Parking Charge Notice on our doorstep from Athena ANPR Ltd. They have written to the registered keeper of the vehicle that the vehicle overstayed in a LIDL car park (allowed 10mins, actual duration of stay 1 hour 5 mins). We don't normally take the car to Lidl as it is within walking distance but in this instance we were. At least until September they used to have 60 mins free stay (checking google maps shows that sign). We don't normally keep receipts for shopping but I have found one from a few days after. Incident Date: 07/12 PCN issued: 12/12 As a good will gesture I'd be ok with paying a nominal amount (£5.00) which includes the average parking charges for 1 hour in the area and there admin costs. Should I also complain to Lidl? As said above, we do not keep receipts for shopping. Isn't one still a customer if one has entered the shop with the intention of buying something? I am looking forward to your suggestions. Thanks Pippaki |

The 10 minutes is usually for those who do not register at the tills. It is usually a full hour (or more) if you register at the tills. It may be the driver didn't see the signs so if there is a receipt for Lidl for the day you can usually get it cancelled.
As you live near there, pop in a see the manager. This post has been edited by emanresu: Mon, 8 Jan 2018 - 13:13 |

Hiya, we don't have the receipt for that day anymore. I have found one from a later date but I don't know if this is any useful.

QUOTE Hiya, we don't have the receipt for that day anymore Should be OK. The idea is to get the manager to sort it rather than lose customers. Go see them. |

If its part of a retail park, thats potentially true. However you can ask them to complain to their landlord.

We have sent an email to LIDL.
Do we need to also send in an appeal to Athena? Thanks Pippaki |

Hi Nosferatu1001,
looks like the deadline has already passed. There deadline of 21 days has already passed. Letter issue date was 12 December. In our defence we were away for two weeks shortly after receiving this. Ill draft a short one now regardless. Pippaki |

The appeal WOULD NOT have succeeded anyway, so dont panic
Appeal AS KEEPER. SHow us your draft ASAP. No keeper liability is easiest as from memory Athena are hopeless. |

Do not mention in your letter who was driving.
Can you post the Notice to Keeper they sent, conceal your name, address and licence plate. The rest we will need to see. |

Your best chance with Lidl is usually to complain to their Customer Service department, explaining what a good customer you are and how badly this experience had affected your perception of their company and their brand. Such an appeal/complaint does not depend on deadlines. If that fails, or if you weren't a customer, I don't think Athena are particularly litigious.

SUCCESS!
The email to the Lidl CEO got the ticket cancelled even though we didn't have a receipt to show. Very relieved. Thank you all for your help. Pippaki |
