A month or two ago i was caught by a new camera installed at an old box junction - i was clearly in the wrong and i paid the ticket without a quibble.
this time, i feel that this is unfair. unfortunately, i can't post the video as its too big (anyone know how i can upload it?) but it shows me (silver vauxhall zafira) entering into the box junction whilst the traffic was moving. i would have cleared the box junction too if the cars in front had moved forward and not left big gaps in between them. the front car that stops all the traffic and is turning right does not pull far enough forward. the one behind could have bypassed the first car but didn't and the one behind that one left a big gap between him and the second car. i've been reading other posts on here and it seems that if the car in front of me is moving when i enter the box junction, that could be an argument. anyone agree in this case? also, its only the rear half of my car which is caught in the junction and is not blocking the cross flow of traffic. further, the box junction appears to be unusually long. updated with PCN posted in reply below This post has been edited by debsdebster: Tue, 17 Oct 2017 - 19:46 |

Cant read the pcn can you re post on flicker or some other external hosting site. The contravention is a 50/50 but I can see errors on the first page of PCN

I'm afraid that the video shows you as bang-to-rights. The traffic ahead was already coming to a stand when you entered, you seem to have just charged in without looking ahead. OK, it a very long YBJ, but unfortunately this is London where YBJ penalties are now a major source of dosh for the councils since CCTV was banned for parking enforcement a few years ago. Personally, I can't see a win. In London you need to be much more careful before entering a YBJ even if people might toot at you.

HI, i posted last week but had a difficult time posting the video and the pictures. i've now managed to do this. i'd really appreciate some advice on whether i can argue my way out of this ticket. i do feel its unfair but if i'm in the wrong, i'll pay it. hoping there's an argument to be had here:

Agree with Incandescent. Unless there are extenuating circumstances in relation to the car turning right (e.g. no entry), I think you're bang to rights (as is the car following you). Length of YBJ is irrelevant.

Length of YBJ is irrelevant. There are some errors with the time allowed for specific actions on the PCN read this http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukla/2003/3/schedule/1/enacted and then the PCN then tell us the date by which you have to make representations and the day on which the council can issue a charge certificate and increase the penalty This post has been edited by PASTMYBEST: Thu, 19 Oct 2017 - 19:34 -------------------- All advice is given freely.
