I’ve just woken up to a letter from Essex police thanking me doing 67 in a variable 50 on the M25. All I have so far is the request to confirm the driver and that they intend to prosecute. Ive been doing some research on line to try and find out what I’m looking at and wish I hadn’t! According to the RAC amongst others, I’m looking at 4-6 points and a weeks wages! That’s a grand for me!!!!!!! I hold my hands up and admit to being in the wrong but obviously all I’ve done is miss the fact that the variable limit dropped. I’m within the usual limit for the road so this seems extremely harsh. It’s my first speeding fine in 10 years!
Am I really looking at a grand for missing one road sign?! Seems totally unreasonable. I have to say as well that using your salary to calculate your fine is ridiculous. I’m on an ok salary of £58k but I have 3 kids under the age of 10 and my wife doesn’t work. So that salary supports 5 people. Before we had the kids, me and the missus both earned £35k each just to support us 2! So I was far better off financially back then and yet somebody in that position now would be looking at a smaller fine than me for the same offence! What a load of b******s!!! |

Then you'll pleased to know the RAC's website is a load of **** and you'll be getting a 3 point £100 fixed penalty offer.
I suggest you accept it. -------------------- RK=Registered Keeper, OP=Original Poster (You!), CoFP=Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty, NtK=Notice to Keeper, NtD=Notice to Driver
PoFA=Protection of Freedoms Act, SAC=Safety Awareness Course, NIP=Notice of Intended Prosecution, ADR=Alternative Dispute Resolution PPC=Private Parking Company, LBCCC=Letter Before County Court Claim, PII=Personally Identifiable Information, SAR=Subject Access Request Private Parking - remember, they just want your money and will say almost anything to get it. |

If you read the RAC article a bit more carefully it does state those penalties are in court, also the majority are dealt with by FPN.
It is deficient in that it doesnt describe when an fpn would normally be the result. |
