So this morning I'm in the M1, ahead is 50mph on the Gantry warning of animals, I slow as I approach, I'm 100 yards away and the sign goes blank so I don't slow down further. I guess to approx. 60mph

Under the gantry and a double flash

The next gantry shows national speed limit sign

What to do

Wait 14 days to see if you get a S172/NIP through the post?

The signs do fade as you pass underneath them although 100 yards at 60mph is four seconds away so it should have been clear at that stage.

Assuming it is one of the new HADECS3 cameras they take a CCTV still as you pass through so in the unlikely event a ticket was actually issued you would be able to check the signs.

They definitely switched off as I approached them, if they take a CCTV still which shows the signage then I’ll be fine.

It’s not a CCTV still it’s just a camera set further back that takes a photo that shows the car and the signage at the same time as the closer photos are taken for evidence of speed.
