I'm pleased this chap is standing up to Indigo and ZZPS but I'm very surprised that a solicitor would offer to pay the initial £60 penalty in such circumstances!

For him to be wanting to pay the £60 to a debt collector tells me that the full story isn't being told.
Why would anyone, let alone a solicitor, want to pay a "fine" if they have made the correct initial payment. |

Why would anyone, let alone a solicitor, want to pay a "fine" if they have made the correct initial payment. Seeing as he both appears to be a fairly high up solicitor with BWB, and also seems to be being investigated by the IPC for leaking athlete information, maybe his time is worth more than £60 if they'd shut up and gone away. Like when you buy something from the supermarket which says if you hate it you can bring it back for a refund, try it, hate it, but can't be bothered to return it... everyone has some £/hr their time and effort is worth - unless you decide to fight it on principle. |

Considering 3x that amount is a very discounted rate for me that may well be true.

He's now replied in the comments on that very point saying
"Now a few perceptive folk have asked why I would offer to pay the reduced amount if I owe nothing, it was disingenuous on my part, I never intended to pay anything once I had proven to myself that I had actually paid. I wanted to make ZZPS a fully reasonable offer knowing they would reject it out of hand (which they did) just to demonstrate what a cynically ruthless outfit they are." |
