NIP Details and Circumstances
What is the name of the Constabulary? -
Date of the offence: - February 2019
Date of the NIP: - 4 days after the offence
Date you received the NIP: - 5 days after the offence
Location of offence (exact location as it appears on the NIP: important): - A660 OTLEY ROAD LEEDS, BETWEEN WELBURN DRIVE & ANCASTER ROAD
Was the NIP addressed to you? - No
Was the NIP sent by first class post, second class or recorded delivery? - First
If your are not the Registered Keeper, what is your relationship to the vehicle? - My Daughters Car
How many current points do you have? - 0
Provide a description of events (if you know what happened) telling us as much about the incident as possible - some things that may seem trivial to you may be important, so don't leave anything out. Please do not post personal details for obvious reasons - My daughter is in Leeds at University, she was recorded as doing 37mph on 30mph Road. She has used the Road on a few occasions and has always thought it was 40mph. She was shocked when she saw the flash as thought she was within the limit. She was recorded at 21.35 and was on her way back fromm the gym. Is it likely she will be offered SAC as opposed to points on her licence.

NIP Wizard Responses
These were the responses used by the Wizard to arrive at its recommendation:
Have you received a NIP? - Yes
Are you the Registered Keeper of the vehicle concerned (is your name and address on the V5/V5C)? - Yes/b]
Is the NIP addressed to you personally? - [b]Yes

- Yes
- Yes

NIP Wizard Recommendation
Based on these responses the Wizard suggested that this course of action should be considered:

For 37 in a 30 yes.

Why did she think it was a 40 limit?

System of street lighting and no repeaters is a 30 limit, it pay her to refresh her memory on how speed limits are signed, guessing can be expensive.

It’s a long road and very wide, it’s 40 at some points and she didn’t know it changed to 30 as she saw no signs indicating this.
I was just hoping that it would be a SAW course and not points. She has obviously learn her lesson but would benefit from the course to make her more aware in the future!

Yes, the main emphasis of these course is on recognising the limit you are in.
