Hi,

A truvelo cam flashed into my face in Nottingham at 2am. I pass that camera 2 times every day with the same speed! So i knew there is a truvelo and i never speeding. Despite on that it flashed. I checked my speedo immediately and showed about 43/44. As i know my speedo shows 1.5 or 2mph+. So my speed actually couldn't be more than 42 mph. There was a clear flash i'm not sure about any other cars around me.
Is there any chance it was a "fake" flash or something?

Doesn't a Truvelo using an Infra red flash? If so, it cannot be seen by the human eye.. I think.

Neither you nor your colleague have received a NIP. Doesn’t that suggest that the system was not malfunctioning?

It may mean the system didn't fail but that's not the point being made here, that the camera itself can malfunction.

No. It’s got a magenta filter so it’s not as blinding. It’s not infra Red

Conjecture I'm afraid. There is a very obvious flash from these devices, whereas true IR would have a very dull glow at most, if any.
Truvelo's use a magenta (purple) filter over a white flash which cuts down the brilliance of the light enough so that it is less distracting than a white flash, and give the best contrast to view the reg plate, hence the colour of the lens. Still flashes a bright pink, almost white however less bright than a Gatso.
The filter is usually only used when facing traffic. If used behind traffic, the filter is normally removed and it flashes white.
IR would be a black and white photo, while Truvelo's produce colour photos - notice the purple tinge even during the daytime:

A copy of the government type approval schedule for Truvelos link is here for any legislatively minded individuals, highlighting the necessary use of the filter in forward facing mode.

Regards

You are unlikely to hear anything further at this stage, assuming you are the RK. Most NIPS seem to come 7-10 days.

Just a question... is it 14 working days for the NIPS to arrive? Or does it include weekends too?

14 days is 14 days. If it was working days it would be 14 working days (which would be an odd period of time, not being a complete working week).
