Hi,

I have made an account on this forum in the hope I can get some advice about this parking charge.

The driver had parked on the street outside the house she was cleaning for, but didn't leave a note, they didn't know that they had to leave a note as their friend whose house they were cleaning, never told them.

We first got a notice on the car windscreen, but we ignored it as we were waiting for the Notice to Keeper, I thought they had to send it within 14 days? they sent it a month after??
initially on the windscreen notice it was £40, it has now gone up to £80?

I have attached the NTK letter. Thank you in advance for your help.

Not sure what this note but the parking requires a permit as per the signage which is presumably there?

After a NtD they have to wait 28 days before accessing the DVLA to issue the NtK.

That is correct - the discounted rate is only offered for the NtD (usually just for 14 days).

She was told afterwards by the resident who lived on the street that she was supposed to just leave a note saying which house she was at, and apparently that suffices and admittedly it has now. There isn't any/much signage as far as I'm aware.

How is that fair? what about if someone ripped the NtD off? I've known kids to do that.

Also, what do you suggest we do? She said she will just pay it off as she doesn't want the stress. Is it one of those you can just ignore or?

Thanks for your help.

Yup, NtD's do go missing... But private parking has little to do with fairness. I'd be surprised if they simply allowed written notes but perhaps they do there...

DE are known to issue court claims. Ignoring it is not a good idea.

If the signage is poor then that perhaps is an angle to attack.

Very true.

thank you, at least we know not to ignore it. She has decided to pay it, which is a bit annoying as we would have paid the £40 instead but oh well.

Thanks for your help though.
