You can send a PM to multiple recipients by using the CC box, but AFAIK you can't define groups as recipients, or 'poke' members, invite them to play Mafia Wars or send them random virtual 'gifts'.

Subscription (BB&G) members can send PMs to up to 10 recipients, as Andy says. However this version of the software doesn't support the kind of group PMs you're describing.

The next version will support "Conversations", which essentially will allow you to form an ad hoc group and send messages that all members of the group can see and reply to. This version is in beta now, but we don't currently have a date when we will be upgrading to it.
