Hi, the driver of our car got a non-council parking ticket a little while ago and have just received a letter saying they're about to take them to court unless they pay the extravagent sum of £160(!)
The driver got the ticket for parking on the bay marking. However, the bay was only marked out on a gravel floor with a dusty grey "T" the same colour as the floor. The driver didn't see the markings until way after they had the ticket. The car next to our car was also parked on where a bay marking would be, but they didn't get a ticket. The driver appealed and it was rejected. There was no further way to communicate with the company, other than pay them. The driver missed the opportunity to appeal to the independent parking people. Stupid, we know. But that's where we're up to. We have a feeling that we can just ignore them, but from reading here we're still not 100% sure. Do we need to suck it up and pay, or can we just ignore them? Or is there a better way? This post has been edited by Tim_tom: Wed, 5 Jun 2019 - 13:57 |

Which company ?
If it's a member of the IPC, you haven't missed an opportunity to appeal to the independent parking people You've dodged the bullet of appealing to an organisation that is owned by the company's trade association and guarantees to reject at least 85% of appeals |

Edit all your posts to remove any implication of who was driving. Use 'the driver' to describe what happened.
Excel often don't use the Protection of Freedoms Act to invoke Keeper Liability and rely on the driver being outed during appeals and other correspondence. They've also been known to trawl this and similar forums looking for evidence to ID the driver. Without Keeper Liability they are faced with pursuing the driver only, which you are under no legal obligation to identify. In terms of attaching pics, the FAQs advise you to host the pics on a photo hosting site like TinyPic or Imgur, and then post the links in here. -------------------- Sometimes I use big words I don't understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

However we are not sure of we outed ourselves in the first correspondence with them. May well have done as we didn't know places like this existed and stupidly thought they would be reasonable |

Did you take pictures of the state of the bays at the time, and do you still have them?

Did you take pictures of the state of the bays at the time, and do you still have them? The state of the bays are on their pics, but I can get them easily if needed. We didn't know it was for that till wr got home, that's how poorly they are marked out. Didn't see the markings till we went to appeal and the pics they took loaded up |

I've tried to appeal through the independent appeals service and it says they can't accept my appeal as it's out of time. What can I do?

Just as well as you would have lost anyway. It is recommended that no appeals are made to the IAS. It is run by the same solicitors that run the IPC and take cases to court.
How about posting the NTK, as asked. |

I have looked and looked and can't find the yellow slip they put on my car at the start of all this. It didn't really say much, hurt that I had a ticket and to pay £25. No other information at all really

This hadn't shown up yesterday for some reason. Thanks. Do I just search "independent parking people"? Not asking for the notice to driver but the notice to keeper that was received in the pist. I posted this earlier on, does this have the info you need? http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2a8q0cm&s=9#.XPfOk5Ao80M |

That’s clearly not the first notice you got through the post either, we need the first one.
Why on earth would you be searching ‘private parking people’? This post has been edited by The Rookie: Tue, 11 Jun 2019 - 18:23 -------------------- There is no such thing as a law abiding motorist, just those who have been scammed and those yet to be scammed!

Because it says you can still appeal to the "independent parking people". I don't know who that is, and can only go from what was in the post. I'll look, but I don't know where anything else is. I've basically got 2 letters the same from them |
