Just wondered if anyone could help please.

My dad has just received a FPN for speeding. It's the usual £60 / 3 points. Is there any chance that he could pop down to the local police / central ticketing office / magistrate court to pay it & get them put on his licence? What with talk of the Post Office going on strike and Xmas coming up, he doesn't want his licence getting caught in the backlog, it never getting there or taking ages to get back.

Also, he's now got the photo card & paper licence. Does he need to send in both parts or just the paper part?

It's the South Yorkshire Safety Camera partnership. We're in Sheffield. Does anyone know how long it will take to get processed once the licence and penalty notice has been sent back?

Thanks in advance.

thanks for the reply. Does anyone know if he goes down to the central ticket office whether they'll endorse it there and then or does he need to submit it and wait for them to send it back?

Yes they ought to have somewhere in the SCP area (normally a magistrates court) where you can take the licence in pay the money and have them endorse it (pathetically this usually just involves them writing in biro in the offence area with the offence code and fine) and give it back to your dad straight away during normal working hours. Certainly in Surrey you can go to Guildford Magistrates court and get it done same day for an offence in their SCP area. This is obviously done to provide for those about to travel overseas etc who need their licence back immediately.

If you contact the Safety Camera Partnership (if they take phone calls) or a local magistrates court in your local area (they all have phone numbers) they ought to be able to advise you on this point.
