Hi, I'm a little frustrated with my neighbour who has parked his car on my drive for the last week and a half. Annoyingly, he has blocked my garage which I can't open.
Also, his drive (which can get 3 cars on) is car free. It's not like it's a heap of a car, as it's a good £30k+ car. Also automatic, fully taxed and insured. I have put a note through his door, but he's not been back since 6th Sept. I know people would say park on his drive, and I can squeeze two cars tandem on the other side of the drive, but it's the utter cheek of it. This neighbour hardly ever talks - to anyone, so I don't believe it's a vendetta (to what I don't know). I simply think he's just manchild (as my missus says) - a child in a mid forties year old mans body. So, what can I do about it? Tomorrow (Saturday) I wanted to get my motorbike out, which I can't. Also, next weekend I need to empty my garage as I'm storing my parents belongings (for their house move). If I ring the police, will they care? The only other thing I can think of is get his insurance details and ring his insurers to say his car is abandoned on my property. Should I contact a car removal company, I don't think a flat bed would work as it's an auto. I think it would have to be one that totally lifts it off the drive. It could be move to a legal space on the road (which they are many). What can I do? |

TO OP
Im trying to picture how this is possible unless it's one of these " drives" which spreads across between two houses with no divisions between what one house " owns" and what the other does? 2.5 tonne floor jack and a couple of mates? --Churchmouse Sounds good ( does that work with an auto in park/ HB ON) but then he returns home and claims the car is damaged and things go from bad to worse This post has been edited by StuartBu: Fri, 14 Sep 2018 - 19:44 |

Note through the door ????
I'd be hammering the door, ringing doorbell and whatever else it takes to get his attention. Probably stop short of the baseball bat but even if communal drive, blocking neighbour's garage is enemy action. A jack and a set of vehicle dollies/skates work on any car BTW, handbrake on, in park, doesn't matter. |

No, it's clear separate drives. The only 'excuse' I can think of if a car garage has dropped the car back and put it on the wrong drive. |

If it had been dropped off by a garage, you would have had the keys put through your letter box if they thought your drive was the correct one !

Well I've found out where he works (from another neighbour), and it appears he owns a car garage - which explains why so many 'prestige' cars. I think he's on holiday, and one of his employees dropped his car back home and put it on the wrong drive. The garage is closed until Monday, so unless he's back I'll be calling them then.
To be fair, I have a double garage and they probably thought the right side garage belongs to the house on the right, not realising his garage is set back the other side. I would love to move the car, but I don't fancy moving a year old BMW M car. |

Our mail (51) often got delivered to the neighbour (51A), with whom we were not on the best of terms. A simple sign pointing the postie in the right direction worked, and was non-contentious. If I were the OP I'd put my house number on the garage doors to discourage any recurrence, accidental or not. |

Car moved. His employee who dropped him at the airport put the car back on the wrong drive, I assume the car keys were taken back to his work. Also, he did say to park right against the garage door as he has lots of motorbikes in there.. He was very apologetic. So case closed.

Couple of days ago I was going to suggest he had got one of his hirelings to take him to the airport then return the car to his home so looks like the explanation was as simple as that. |
