Just noticed today a new pair of SPECS Vector average speed cameras have gone up on the Macclesfield side of the Cat & Fiddle, near to the junction with Buxton Old Road (where the Setter Dog pub used to be). This extends the average speed sector by about a mile closer to Macc.

I'm not sure if they are active as yet - the sign on the descent down into Macc that says 'Average Speed Check Route Ends' is still there, about 600 yards before the new camera gantry. But I would think if the new gantry isn't live yet, it soon will be.

All of the gantries on the road have now been "upgraded" to the Vector cameras, after it became fairly common knowledge that the older-style cameras were not working between Macclesfield and the Cat & Fiddle pub itself.

Does the pub at the top still updates the big map on the wall as you go in with all the accidents and outcomes of the accidents that have happened on the Cat n Fiddle road?

I assume they're rear-facing (i.e. capturing the rear number plate), otherwise they'll be useless against the main target - the bikers.

@Prometheus123: I don't know, it's no longer a pub but a shop selling craft gin.

@The Slithy Tove: there are two Vectors per gantry, covering both directions.
