Who would imagine that a driver of an emergency vehicle would actually have to demonstrate that their breaking of a speed limit was justified by a statutory exemption, by way of a simple and long-established procedure? I'm shocked, I tell you!

I can almost see the sarcasm pouring from your veigns ... it seems the cops involved in the thread think its a pretty stupid system, especially as it appears from the reports on that conversation that other emergency services don't have to jump through these hoops.
Also interesting that some forces now have a static blue light to the reverse so that the operator can see the 'blues and twos' are in operation. -------------------- PePiPoo will likely close in October due to issues beyond the control of any contributor to this forum.

Yes Rookie, seems the thread has been removed ... basically lots of coppers discussing how various forces treat camera activations ... some sent out NIP's, some however had methods of dealing with the activations before a NIP was produced, and some others reporting that they never heard anything of them - others reported that ambulance service dealt with any NIP's without involving the driver at the time.

If you fancy a laugh read Metropolitan Police Service v London Borough of Bexley (2110040049, 03 March 2011) http://bit.ly/2t5WJYN it must have been a real shocker for the officer to find out the hot beverage exemption had been withdrawn.

Did any of them get NIPs withdrawn whilst they were in their own private cars, just because they were members of emergency services? |

some sent out NIP's, some however had methods of dealing with the activations before a NIP was produced And if it turns out there wasn't a valid exemption they would probably be too late to issue a NIP then..... Sounds like a great system - for the bent coppers? -------------------- There is no such thing as a law abiding motorist, just those who have been scammed and those yet to be scammed!

I don't recall there was any discussion of private cars - there was some discussion of marked vs unmarked cars ... some sent out NIP's, some however had methods of dealing with the activations before a NIP was produced And if it turns out there wasn't a valid exemption they would probably be too late to issue a NIP then..... Sounds like a great system - for the bent coppers? Bent coppers ... surely not :-0 -------------------- PePiPoo will likely close in October due to issues beyond the control of any contributor to this forum.
