Never having been there before, we asked a pedestrian where Wilkinsons store was. He pointed to a car park and told us to use the escalator near the far end of the cark park where the disabled bays are.
The disabled bays were empty so I chose the nearest to the escalator and displayed my blue badge and went up the escalator to the store. It took 30 minutes to get our paint and we drove away. Admittedly, I didn't read any signs because I thought it was Wilkinsons car park. I received a PCN from parking eye telling me to pay £100 for a 30 minute stay or £60 if I pay before 23 August because I hadn't registered at Lings Forum Leisure Centre. £100 is more than two thirds of my weekly pension. My wife said to pay the £60, we'll get by. I'm in my 78th year now and I feel stupid, but I also feel that £100 for 30 minutes is excessive and probably obscene to many veterans. I read many messages about just ignoring it - they'll stop sending threatening letters after a while. But I wondered if sending them a letter explaining my circumstances maybe they'll reduce it lower than £60. I'll return later to see if I've got some advice on here. Thank you, Chris. |

Ignoring it would be a bad idea. ParkingEye issue many court claims.
They won’t accept any lower. How long after the parking did the charge arrive? -------------------- RK=Registered Keeper, OP=Original Poster (You!), CoFP=Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty, NtK=Notice to Keeper, NtD=Notice to Driver
PoFA=Protection of Freedoms Act, SAC=Safety Awareness Course, NIP=Notice of Intended Prosecution, ADR=Alternative Dispute Resolution PPC=Private Parking Company, LBCCC=Letter Before County Court Claim, PII=Personally Identifiable Information, SAR=Subject Access Request Private Parking - remember, they just want your money and will say almost anything to get it. |

£100 is more than two thirds of my weekly pension. My wife said to pay the £60, we'll get by. I'm in my 78th year now and I feel stupid, but I also feel that £100 for 30 minutes is excessive and probably obscene to many veterans. This was a point made to the Supreme Court that the charge, for many, IS excessive. However, they decided that the amount was reasonable and here we are. ParkingEye are unlikely to care about your situation nor the blue badge. They just want your cash. Date of event: 2 Aug, received PCN 14th Aug. I presume the back of the PCN mentions the 'Protection of Freedoms Act'? -------------------- RK=Registered Keeper, OP=Original Poster (You!), CoFP=Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty, NtK=Notice to Keeper, NtD=Notice to Driver

Yes, they mention Protection of Freedoms act on the reverse of the letter.
My wife says the stress isn't worth it, just pay the £60 and forget it. She's probably right, I don't need stress at my age. Thank you, Plc. |
