So was just trying to get an idea of the best response and the likely penalty. It says to give an explanation but I'm worried that saying "not knowingly done" could result in some other charge like careless driving. Alternatively if I leave it blank is that worse if I need to state it later?
If it's 3 points and a reasonable fine then I'm happy to take it on the chin and be more cautious in future but since the max is apparently jail time I don't want to go blindly ahead. I seem to have found the min/max penalties but little guidance on what circumstances would affect where on that spectrum i would be. Any help greatly appreciated |

You’re not going to jail for crossing a level crossing 2 seconds after the lights went red.

Without looking up the specifics for this offence, I would have thought the likely outcome would be a fixed penalty notice involving 3 points and a £100 penalty.

Not sure we have seen a case where a BTP prosecuted offence has ever resulted in a fixed penalty, they like to take to court.

Not sure we have seen a case where a BTP prosecuted offence has ever resulted in a fixed penalty, they like to take to court. I've seen at least one case on one of those TV programmes on the BBC, the chap who got pulled over said he'd rather pay the fixed penalty than have a course so the BTP officer said so be it and gave him a Fixed Penalty Notice. Can't think of any reason why camera enforcement would be different. -------------------- If you would like assistance with a penalty charge notice, please post a thread on https://www.ftla.uk/index.php

Anyone else want a ban for breaching Rule 8?
