Hi all

Yesterday I received an NIP, the date of the alleged offence is stated as 29/08/2018 and the NIP is dated 09/10/2018.

This is a six week gap, any advice gratefully received!

Cheers

Tom

Edit: The letter to post back states "Safety Camera Process Unit".

Are you the registered keeper (do you have the V5)

Have you recently bought the car, moved house ....or could it be a reminder and the original never arrived ?

Not enough information to give any further advice.

Hi Antony, sorry, it's an NHS lease car, not moved house or received anything prior to this notice.

Anything legal comes straight to me, although I don't have the V5 I am the registered keeper.

Cheers

Tom

If you were the RK and it was registered to you, you would have the V5
It may be registered in your NAME but care of the leasing company
That is far more likely than you being the actual RK.

Thank nosferatu1001

I have contacted the lease car dept and they inform me that to all intents and purposes I am the registered keeper, and although they do hold the V5, anything legal comes straight to me.

Cheers

They are talking Rowlocks, if you were the registered keeper then the V5C would be sent to you, ask for a scan/photo of he address on the V5C and it will show we're right and they are wrong.

There is no 'intents and purposes' involved here, you are or you are not, its clear you cannot be.

No it doesn't - the first NIP will have gone to the lease company

Complete rubbish. Utterly
Have a look a tthe sample V5 yourself online
The address is THE ONE address these docs get sent to. As you do not have the V5, that address will be the leasing companies address, as leasing companies (rightly) hold onto the V5 to prevent log book loans.
The lease co is wrong. Utterly. You can eep arguing the point, or you can simply prove it by as Rookie said, getting them to send you a scan of the V5.

I would add that there is one special exception to this which are Motability cars where the disabled person named as keeper is the registered keeper with their address used but the V5c is sent to motability, but it is the ONLY exception.

Hi all

Firstly, thanks' for all the replies, I have just got off the phone with the senior lease manager and he has corrected the ***** that gave me the wrong info.
The delay is due to it going through their dept first, as you have all pointed out.

I was doing 82 in a 70, had a clean license for 20 yrs as well...

Cheers

As long as its not Scotland that speed will see you offered a driver awareness course, circa £100 and 4 hours of your time, no points.

If you take a course you may have to notify your insurers if the policy states that, most do not but Admiral group companies do.
