Is anyone else being inundated with emails asking you to optin to continue receiving contact from various sources citing the GDPR changes. Every day for a couple of weeks I've been getting them so dunno when they'll finally stop. Some of them where you just have to click one button are ok but some you need to go to their website to do it.

If the UK leaves the EU... The UK already has the Data Protection Act 1998, which always seemed fairly comprehensive to me. I am aware of no pressing need for the UK to transpose the GDPR into UK law post Brexit. Well, well, well - this has actually caught me by surprise... The DPA2018 (legislation here) got Royal Assent after all! Best message yet : Goodbye. Sorry you're really not worth a £2m fine from the GDPR police This is what the DVLA should be sending to UKPC. -------------------- Sometimes I use big words I don't understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

I am aware of no pressing need for the UK to transpose the GDPR into UK law post Brexit. Although the government has already said that it will, not least because of the desire for our data protection regime to be determined to be adequate by the EU and so allow data exchanges to continue. -------------------- Regards,
Fredd __________________________________________________________________________

Anyway, as Fredd's post alludes, compliance with existing EU law is probably going to be part of any post-Brexit "deal", so GDPR (and DPA 2018) are here to stay. --Churchmouse |

Here's a summary of the UK Withdrawal Bill:
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/go...serving_law.pdf Post-Brexit, however, Parliament can always change the law, so the Withdrawal Bill really just establishes a base line. --Churchmouse |

I took the deluge of emails as a good opportunity to filter and unsubscribe from most of the senders and hang on to those I was interested in.

I've done the same
I'll just have to live with not becoming a multi-millionaire public speaking author with women and assailants falling at my feet when I'm not playing with my flight simulator Neither will I have 20:20 vision and freedom from backache as a result of simple exercises I can't afford or have room for the new clothes I would have to buy, as I lose 20 lb per week Will also no longer have the dilemma whether I want 120/80 blood pressure Surely it should be higher to cope with the new demands of an organ that will resemble a meerkat in its ability to instantly spring to attention and hold its position for long periods |

I keep getting e-mails that are only for people who are aged 30 or over from some person from Stormy Daniels but since I'm nowhere near 30 I don't think I'm allowed to open it
Shame, I was looking forward to seeing what new trend is fashionable this week |

Getting fed up with GDPR again
Have been trying for a month to arrange a simple repair to a freezer When you call the company, you spend a full minute (I timed it) listening to their GDPR policy before you're connected to an adviser The adviser then proceeds to ask you to confirm your acceptance of the policy This morning's second call was most enlightening when I called back to confirm the date of the visit that I thought I'd just rearranged The first was to ask when the repairer was turning up today Not on system Turns out that "all booked in" is the date that the repairer will phone to arrange the visit |
