I was going down the a38 from the m1 towards Mansfield a few days ago, along the 50mph average section, but then it changed to a 30mph, for about 100 m, then went back upto 50mph but I didn’t realis it did until afterwards, Just wondered if anyone has had a ticket before from this. I’ve being on the nottspeed website what lists the cameras and locations and it only says it about being a 50mph not a 30mph.

Depends whether there is a camera pair covering the 30 limit, average speed camera systems can only work on a single speed limit.

Thanks for the reply, I think it should be okay as the speed camera signs actually had a 50 aswel as the camera symbol on it.

That sign clearly applies to the 50 mph section(s). It does not mean there is no camera in the 30 section, as no sign is required.

Know this stretch of road well, there is no speed cameras in the 30 limit section, only a red light one at the junction within it.

Okay thanks , so the average speed only applies to the 50mph section either side of the junction and not the 30 section at the junction?

Did you get a ticket or were you lucky enough to avoid it?
